Abigail Spangler

Abigail is the Global Associate Director of the Gender Equality Portfolio at Room to Read. With over 12 years of experience, she provides strategic direction and technical guidance for gender and youth programs across Africa and Asia, advancing equity and inclusive development globally.

Before joining Room to Read, Abigail supported gender integration in agriculture and health initiatives. She worked in Malaysia, delivering humanitarian aid to Rohingya refugees and in Peru, where she partnered with the Ministry of Education to develop programs that help adolescents stay in school and graduate.

Her work reflects a deep commitment to youth development and gender equity in both emergency and education settings. Abigail holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Oregon and an MA in Cross-Cultural and International Relations from Newcastle University.
